Moving forward against the odds

I am going to let you in on a little of my current journey. Although it is not easy to move forward, many of us find ways to do just that while pushing against the odds.

I have been working on new material and setting up deals with my music and licensing. To hear my songs in TV and film has always been a dream and now a feasible goal of mine. It is a difficult field to “jump into” for the time it takes for these matters to unfold can be lengthy. So as the year 2014 unfolds, so does my efforts to reach these new goals.

As a creative mind, I look to my own life encounters and events for inspiration. Luckily, I have no problem with finding “stuff” to write about. Having a phone with no sound for the past 5 months makes phone calls obsolete. A truck that doesn’t run makes getting to work a serious chore. A bank account…….well, let’s just say that is another post. And after losing my relationship with the woman I love, I should be set for writing material for years! If I only had a dog that ran away, my country music would be off the charts.

I’m not telling you this to complain or gain pitty or even to feel sorry for me. This is the life I have created for myself and I am very grateful to have this life. Times are tough and the future is uncertain but this is when we ha e an oppoe to really dig deep. Finding out who we are, what we can truly handle in dire situations and what we can overcome with the right mind set. It’s not easy and it even stings a bit but, I forgive myself for my mistakes and I WILL do my best to learn from them and not make the same mistakes again.

So with all that being said, the next chapter will begin to unfold and with it will come new songs, new dreams and a new tomorrow.

Snow, when is it too much?

We have been having a long cold winter and the snow keeps falling. Now when is it too much? The temperature is below zero, car is frozen and just walking across the parking lot is a task. So when you finally go inside and get warm, the last thing you want to do is go back out into the cold. This is when the cabin fever sets in and you start to go crazy. I find myself trying to think of things to do and it just seems so depressing. I love the snow but sometimes it can be too much. With that being said, I am ready for Spring and the warm days ahead.

An analysis of “Paradise by the Dashboard Light, Part 2”

Massive tune!

I, Omnibus

There really isn’t much wiggle room when it comes to interpreting the Meat Loaf classic rock opus, “Paradise by the Dashboard Light.” It is a cautionary tale about a seventeen-year-old boy who makes a rueful, life-altering decision in order to satisfy his virginal libido. The song, like many 70’s classic rock songs, is divided into three parts. Part one describes the beginning of the date night, as the singer is all happy-go-lucky. But in part three, the singer is regretful and miserable and prays for the end of time. The transition between these polar opposite emotions occurs in part two, where the girl (sung by Ellen Foley) issues an ultimatum, “Before we going any further… will you love me forever? … Will you make me your wife?” The boy tries to stall and dodge the question, “Let me sleep on it,” but the girl will have none of that…

The Last Stand of the Drive-In Theater: Upgrade or Perish

Midlife Crisis Crossover!

In my early childhood years, I had only two options for seeing movies: squinting at them on my family’s thirteen-inch black-‘n’-white TV (and I was rarely allowed to choose what channels we watched); or seeing them writ large on the giant-sized, outdoor screen down at the drive-in theater. In a world where limited technology narrowed our choices, this competition was a no-brainer to me.

A Special Sunday: A Mix of Mother’s Day Blogs

WordPress.com News

In some parts around the world, this Sunday is dedicated to the mothers out there. For Mother’s Day, we’ve rounded up sites on motherhood, parenting, and family. On WordPress.com, you’ll discover mothers on all paths: new moms, stay-at-home-moms, single moms, mothers who are full-time writers, and more. (Even mommy men, as you’ll see below.)

We especially want to highlight bloggers with unique perspectives and thoughtful commentary, as well as collaborative blogs with multiple contributors. So, we hope you enjoy this sampling of sites in honor of this special day.

Butterfly Mind

Just the other day I was hunting in the magical woods of destiny. To my surprise, I stumbled across a being that had once existed in times past. YES, I found the mystical 80’s hair metal fairy!!
